Google new chart API

September 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Hi All,

A new API from Google that generates information charts in a dynamic way. its usage is quite straightforward: you link to an image in the form of a parameterized URL, such as http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=p3&chd=t:90,49&chs=400×200&chl=data|bling.

“cht=p3? is the chart type, in this case, a pie chart.

“chd=t:90,49? are the chart values, text-encoded, and separated by a comma.

“chs=400×200? is the custom chart size, 400 by 200 pixels.

“chl=Data|Bling” are the different labels for the pie chart sections, separated via the pipe character.

chart types include: line charts, bar charts, pie charts, Venn diagrams & scatterplots.

What is Website HeatMap?

September 19, 2011 Leave a comment

Site heatmaps are graphical illustrations of data where variables represent values of data which are recorded in two-dimensional tables. The origin of the heatmaps is the 2D displays, and its values are represented in a data matrix. In most instances, values that are larger are represented by small squares that are either dark, gray or black. The smaller squares are represented by squares that are lighter in color.

There are many different uses of heatmaps in a website, and they are very important to the people who use them. Among the different types and the uses if the heart maps include:

  • Web heatmaps: These are heatmaps which are used to display certain areas of the web which are scanned by visitors mostly. In extension, the site owners use this information to understand what the visitors like most; hence assisting in making the necessary decisions about the steps that can be taken to ensure that more traffic is achieved.
  • Tree map: This is a two-dimensional partitioning of data which in ordinary cases resembles aheatmap. It has the ability to show the source and the areas that visitors visit most in a website.
  • Mosaic maps: These types of heatmaps which represent higher or two ways of data. It is tiled and appears in a way that makes it look like they are organized hierarchically in a mosaic plot. The regions are rectangular shaped and not squarely shaped as it is the norm. It is mainly used to make graphical representations in websites.

It is through the use of heatmaps that you can be able to understand about the visitors that you have recorded and all the things which they like doing on your site. It can be compared to someone watching another person performing a certain activity. Whenever there is a campaign that is being done online, the site owner can make use of heatmaps to understand where the traffic comes from and other related information.

A site heatmap records every mouse that clicks on your web pages. This makes it possible that you get all the necessary statistics through the eyes of your customers. By doing this, you will be able to get more information, which will make to make your site better.

Importance of PHP Development for Web development

September 16, 2011 Leave a comment
One of the biggest examples of technological advancements is the immense change in programming platforms. With a range of Application existing in the market for web application, PHP and Dot Net is considered as a leading and a highly accepted website development application technology. Basically PHP which is a scripting language which used to generate dynamic web pages which in turn bring interactivity with your users.  This language can also be written in HTML. But nowadays, PHP along with MY SQL is being used to construct some of the most powerful online databases.

Keeping in view the complex nature of PHP web development, hiring of highly skilled and experienced PHP developers becomes extremely crucial. Several benefits of hiring a PHP developer include reducing development cost since PHP also integrates with a number of open source applications like Joomla, Drupal, WordPress etc. Being an open source technology it allows the user to make use of all platforms like Apache, Solaris, windows, Linux and various other platforms in order to take advantage of the investments made.

When you hire PHP developer you should care to find if he or she knows how effectively the XML is supported with 5th version. Now XML files work unified way and the efficiency of processing data has become compatible with W3C school specification. With SimpleXML in support 5th version has made parsing RSS files, REST results too much easy.

However it is also very important to note that in order to use PHP in an efficient way PHP tools are required. PHP tools are divided into different categories depending upon their functionality. For e.g. Webgrind is a debugging tool whereas PHP/SWF Charts is an outstanding tool for image manipulation and graphs.

If you are getting a website developed and you are confused in selecting the right programming language, have a look at your compatibility level. Moreover, Simple test is a testing and optimization tool while PHPE clipse runs on probably all major operating systems like Windows, Linux etc. While FirePHP is a data entry tool which helps to enter data in Firebug, Phing is a tool which can be utilized to do file transformations, run PHP Unit file system and CVS/SVN operations. Apart from that, if you need to connect the website with an existing application which has been developed on DOT net then you should select the same programming platform for web development purposes.

How to get number of days between two dates using MySQL

While developing web application , in many many places we face the problem where we can use only MYSQL and get the number of number of days between two given dates using MySQL. Syntax – DATEDIFF(FirstDate,SecondDate) This function will calculate the difference bretween two dates and give the out put in number of days. It will give the result positive only if first date is grater than second date. If Second date is greater than First date than it will give the negative result.

Example: Query : SELECT DATEDIFF(‘2010-01-05’, ‘2009-12-15’); Result : 21 Query : SELECT DATEDIFF(‘2009-12-15’, ‘2010-01-05’); Result : -21 hope this will  help full for some. 😀 let me know if any solution require !
